Different people earn different amounts so people get jealous  and want more if you had no money and your best friend had a really Nice jumper you might be pushed towards stealing it so you could have it and then you could tease him about it.

The wealth also link into where your physical environment is for example if you have little wealth then you are going to be living in a poorer area where as if you are wealthy you are going to be living in a richer area.
